Firmly Rooted
In 1853, in accordance with the Federal Homestead Act, Jacob L. Boring received 80 acres of land located just outside Indianapolis in Shelby County, Indiana. Since that time, three generations of the Boring family have lived on and farmed those 80 acres and others in central Indiana. Phillip Boring, brother to Gary L. Boring (Partner Emeritus and Founder of Boring + Taylor), still farms Boring acreage today. Gary and his son, Mike, who joined B+T in 2003, were raised on Jacob L. Boring’s original family land, and both have worked on the family farm as well. Central Indiana is home for Boring + Taylor.
